CAN'T STOP THESE CROOKS

Prominent streetwear brand CROOKS AND CASTLES, known for portraying the aesthetic of villainous figures in their designs [hence, medussa], recently did a collaboration with french fashion juggernaut BKRW. The end result was of course, a diabolical masterpiece. The Crooks x BKRW shirts were released in two colorways, white and black, and are now both available at the BKRW online store.

CHAD'S DAD

For some of you who don't know, CHAD HUGO is one third of the phenomenal hip-hop trio N.E.R.D., along with PHARRELL WILLIAMS, of course, and SHAE. Hailing from a small filipino community in virginia beach, this 'cat is more known for producing sick beats than performing on stage. The man behind everything, pretty much. In this video, pharrell himself talks about how cool and funny chad's dad is. Check out his hilarious color commentary on some of his misadventures with chad's "tatay". Funny as hell.

PINOY PRIDE

Can't really say enough about MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO. Coming from a country more known for its poverty than success, pacman is indeed his people's only hope. Tonight's 9th round beatdown of mexican fighter david diaz only adds flare to his already illustrious, legendary career. Thanks manny, for another thrilling win. For another glimpse of hope.

Pharrell-owned clothing label BBC/ICE CREAM, recently released their much awaited 2008 spring/summer line and indeed, it has again exceeded its own hype. Unfortunately, the billionaire boys of this club [BBC, get it?] will make these available only at their newly opened Hong Kong retail store. BOOO HOOO. Just cross your fingers and hope these suckers make their way to US shores soon. Real soon.

PURE JOY

PURIST BOUTIQUE, the infamous san jose-based clothing store known for carrying some of the finest names in streetwear, recently celebrated their one year anniversary. To mark this successful milestone, five collaborative projects were brought into works, resulting to these sick graphic tee creations. The most recent one is with juggernaut brand the Hundreds, dropping this saturday, available only at the purist store. TH joins a recognizable list of brands, which includes futura, fiberops, recon and black scale. I guess these other ones have already completely sold out. This last release is your last chance to be part of purist history so make sure you cop 'em.

Purist x THE HUNDREDS. The infamous adam bomb character from hundreds is once again on the loose. If you're a TH fan, this is a must-have to say the least.

Purist x FIBEROPS. Designs from this absolute trendsetting brand are simply instant classics.

Purist x RECON. To be honest, i've never heard of this brand before not because they're unknown but because i'm still quite naive when it comes to knowing the who's who of the business. If anybody's on the same boat with me, gotta check 'em out.

Purist x BLACK SCALE. Huf executive MEGA, is the man behind this one-of-a-kind brand. Full of swag, cutting edge and disctinct. That's all black scale. That's all mega for you, son.

Purist x FUTURA LABORATORIES. Similar to Black Scale, this brand offers something unique and creative in the table.

A NEW DREAM

... DREAM TEAM that is. This past monday, the final 12-man roster for the US men's basketball team were announced and this time, all cannons are loaded. As a kid, my passion for the game of basketball and love for this country are two reasons why i enjoyed watching the likes of jordan, bird and malone beat the crap out of foreign players. But throughout the years, the talent gap between NBA and international players have narrowed down and proof of this is a demoralizing bronze medal finish by the US team in athens back in 2004. Nothing to be worried about though. With all the talent and experience that we have this time around, the new dream team is ending the nightmare.

'Melo and D-wade are just some of the big names in this year's version of the dream team. Here's the rest of pack, all hoping to bring back the "gold standard" back to american soil:

G Jason Kidd
G Deron Williams
G Chris Paul
G Kobe Bryant
G Michael Redd
G Dwyane Wade
F Carmelo Anthony
F LeBron James
F Tayshaun Prince
F
Carlos Boozer
F Chris Bosh
C Dwight Howard

NO CURE FOR THIS VIRUS

Some of you may know or heard about ma' best bud JUNE and his so called "decent" musical talent. He's an aspiring acoustic/r&b artist, who've done most of his singing in local coffee shops in Sacramento and Orange County, at small family reunions and of course... on YOUTUBE! But like most pinoy kids coming from traditional, old-fashioned filipino families, his musical dreams are not considered to be priorities in life. Despite all that, he could still manage to keep a day job, study hard for his upcoming nursing exam and... perform in public! Once a given a chance, this performer's never gonna say no. Check out his latest gig at LOLA'S KITCHEN inside DRAGONFLY, tomorrow in downtown sacramento. Drop by and show some love if you guys can. Hot performance, fersure, as always. WORD.

TWO MINUTE WARNING

All through my life, i've always been a big time crammer. Dunno know why. Its a bad habit to have, i know that, but i really just can't help it. I guess some 'cats just perform better under pressure. Brings out the best in 'em. Sounds definitely like me.

Did nothing all day but mess around. I did today's blog post first, then started studying for my business statistics exam tomorrow. No sweat.

EAST MEETS WEST

Other than import cars, anime cartoons and the clothing brand bape, SUSHI is probably the next best japanese contribution to america's rich, multi-faceted culture. What can I say, its the best. Every saturday, after work, me and some friends go hit up this nice, great sushi place called SUSHI SHOGUN. They have a wide array of japanese food in their menu and all of 'em (mostly) are pretty damn good. We always go for the all-you-can-eat special for 22 bucks. Trust me, every penny is worth it.

Dynamite and mexican rolls definitely works out perfect for me.

... after 5 minutes... GONE!

Later that night, i took ma' lil sister to go watch KUNG FU PANDA at cinema city in anaheim hills. Yeah, yeah.. i was the kid that night, not her. What's wrong with that huh?

My little sister, maddie.

All throughout the movie, i managed to take some pictures ala bootleg screenshot previews of the movie. Here's some of those...

On top of actually seeing the movie, part of satisfying the "little kid" in me also involved collecting these kung fu panda happy meal toys from mcdonald's. So far, i only have mantis and crane. Yeah i know, i know.. these are awesome! (Haters?)

SHAWTY GOT LOOSE

The long wait is over. As mentioned in this very blog about 2 weeks ago, AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW is back for its second season! Tonight's pilot episode featured 10 crews who each showcased their own style and identity, through respective signature moves and grooves. Y'all better stay tuned 'coz this season's shaping up to be a loooot better than the last one. Word. Every thursday, 10pm pt on mtv. Check it. By the way, props to DISTORTED X for puttin' up a good fight. They did their thang but it wasn't enough. One down, eight more to go.

SO REAL CRU, the all pinoy crew reppin' H-town, definitely "exploded" and kicked off the show right (damn right i should say).

The bay's SUPREME SOUL wasn't really that supreme tonight...

... but the vegas group, SUPER CREW brought it and was supa' fo sho! Heee-yaaa!

ANOTHER all pinoy crew from dc (dc, baby!), the BOOGIE BOTS also smooved great, much to both the judges' and audience's delight.

Los angeles' own FANNY PAK. I'ma be honest here.. after tonight's performance, i'm guessing they could be this season's sleepers. Real good in a very different way.

ON THE SAME NOTE OF GETTIN' HYPED...

Some of you may know that i've been blogging for about some time now. But just for the record, this is ma' blog's first month anniversary (a MONTH-SARY?). Honestly, i used to hate blogs and bloggers alike. USED TO. So to all "supporters" (hahaha, you know who y'all are) and haters (i know who y'all are).. i would just like to say, THANK YOU.

HOT IN HURRR

Scorching temperatures. Smoking hot bikini bods. Ultra high ac usage. All these only mean one thing.. SUMMER TIME BABY! Rather than spending big bucks gluing myself in front of the ac, i decided to hit up some local places and indulge myself with cooling summer treats. Just take it easy with the calories though.

BEANTOWN MASSACRE

The title says it all. After it was all said and done, the celtics won their 17th championship by way of a 39-point victory over the lakers, 131-92. As a laker fan, this series has been frustrating and disapointing to watch. No excuses or pinpointing here. I rest my case. I'm just glad its over. I guess so does everybody else.

Classic moment.

So close yet so far.

The humbling face of defeat.
